Barnstaple Rocked!
Review of the 9 pm show at Queen's Theatre Barnstaple
This was supposed to have been the first show that I went to on the tour, but had managed to slip Bristol and Truro in before this one.
Booked the seats as soon as they went on sale and got Row C, Seats 13 and 14, 3 rows from the front, in the middle. Great view of Tone and Pete. Took my hubby with me this time, so I could have a drink beforehand and not have to drive the 40 miles back at 1 am.
The Evening started with a few drinks and a meal at the Weatherspoons pub across the road from the Theatre, got settled into the seats at 8.45 pm, show started promptly at 9 pm.
Decided to write the set list down this time, after the experience of the grumpy roadie not letting me take it from Truro.
So the
set list was:
| First Half | Second Half | ||
| Song | Singers | Song | Singers |
| Boys of Summer | Pete and Tony | You're Over Me | Pete |
| Drive My Car | Pete and Tony | Faithful | Pete and Richard |
| Lifeline | Tony | Suspicious Minds | Tony and Andrea |
| Free Fallin' | Tony | Through the Barricades | Tony |
| Always on my Mind | Pete | We Close our Eyes | Pete and Richard |
| Don't Look Down | Pete and Richard | King of Wishful Thinking | Pete and Richard |
| Call Me | Pete and Richard | Gold | Tony |
| True | Tony | That's Life | Tony |
| Try Me Tonight | Pete and Tony | Addicted to Love | Pete, Tony and Richard |
| Boys are Back in Town | Pete, Tony and Richard | Papa was a Rolling Stone | Pete, Tony and Richard |
| Simply Irresistible | Pete, Tony and Richard | ||
They seem to have made changes to the set list this time with the first half lasting an hour, then the 20 minute break. The second half lasted an hour too, with the show ending at 11.20 pm.
The Try Me Tonight song is getting worse, but funnier. The boys were on excellent form.
The stage was much smaller than the other venues I have been to and the audience was a packed 700 with about 30% of them being blokes who had been dragged along by their other half (including mine!). Some people had also been to the 6 pm show and Tony said that they must mad, going to two in one day.
Tony didn't sing his new song Misled. I thought his website said he would.
Waited around in the cold afterwards (thank goodness the snow we had had a couple of days before had gone). Pete came out first at about 11.50 pm - he must have thought it was cold because he was wearing a wooly hat. Richard came out next, I spoke to him about how good it was that he was on stage more, he said it was because they had changed the set and % wise he was on more now. It took Tony over an hour before he appeared, so there were only about 20 people left out of the about 75 who were there originally. Spoke to Tony and he remembered me from Truro, I said that I thought this was the best so far that I had seen, he seemed pleased with this comment. Had my photo taken with him, better this time.
