This
concert wasn't originally on my list of summer concerts, due to the
logistics of getting to Bolton and the cost of the tickets etc. But
anyone who has read my reviews will realise that I always end up seeing
Tony more times than I intend to.
After going to Swansea, I wanted to see Tony again. By this time
the tickets to the show were buy one get one free. I decided to put
my Family Railcard to use and take my youngest daughter with me
Bolton. Had a look on the internet for a hotel and the De Vere Whites
Hotel at the Reebok stadium looked like a good one to choose.
Arrived at the hotel mid afternoon, Wendy and Tina were already there - they had the room next door to mine! Went into the stadium about 7 pm and found seats, Emma from MSN group INSTINCTION had the seat next to me.
Tony sang 7 songs plus a bit of the final medley. He was accompanied by West End Concert Orchestra, the conductor was Martin Yates. The other performers were Carmen Cusack, Alex Sharpe and Michael Xavier.
Tony sang:
Live & Let Die
Goldeneye
We Have all the Time in the World
A View to a Kill
From Russia with Love
Tomorrow Never Dies
Thunderball
Nobody Does it Better (sung as part of final medley)
The other performers did good renditions of their songs and the orchestra were good. The evening was ended with a firework display.
Went back to the hotel and met up in the bar with Wendy, Tina, Gema, Clare and Angela. Chatted for a while and then Tony came into the bar for an after show event and came over to speak to us.
Next morning Wendy, Tina and myself had nearly finished our breakfast when Tony came into the restaurant and walked past us to the breakfast bar to get some juice. We said good morning and he said good morning back. He was wearing a white shirt, jeans and the NYC baseball cap that he wore on Reborn. I couldn't believe that I had seen Tony at breakfast and I hadn't booked that hotel because I thought Tony would be staying there, I booked it because it was convenient for the stadium. My claim to fame now is 'I have slept under the same roof as Tony'!
