I hadn't necessarily planned to go to Dartford but looking at my work leave card it was possible but I would have to take half a day off instead of a whole day. In hindsight this was a bad idea as it meant timing would be a bit tight getting to Dartford. My train was 20 minutes late getting into London so I missed the connection down to Dartford that I had planned, so instead of getting there at 6.30 pm, it was almost 7.30 pm when I got there - not the best start to a show but it was better than my friend who had got caught up in accidents and roadworks on the M25.
My view of the show this time was from the balcony, this gave me a completely different view of the show and let me see the reaction of the audience to it. I was also able to see John Keeble watching from behind the mixing desk on stage and various members of Tony's family and friends in the audience.
Not being in the front row also gave me a more rounded listen to the sound of the show too. The first half flies by as usual and have a chat with friends in the interval.
Soon back to our seats for the second half and the songs just flow so nicely. Tony talked about being on Children In Need and meeting David Cassidy and also about reality TV shows. We stood from That's Life onwards as there was nobody behind us, but the front row only stood for the encore.
Tony met everyone who was waiting and chatted until they wanted to close the theatre. A nice woman who had waited for some large posters shared them with us - thanks.
