OK - so Dubai was a long way to go to see Tony - but it was so worth it!! We flew out on the Thursday night, arriving early Friday morning and spent all day by the pool. We know Dubai quite well so headed straight to The Irish Village for 7pm. It was already getting crowded, but at that point no one was gathering by the stage. By about 8.15pm however, we started to move forward and I staked my claim to the centre spot right in front of the stage.
The atmosphere was great and the crowd were all ex-pats from the UK . The boys kept us waiting for a bit, which increased the anticipation..then out they all came!!
They all performed Addicted to Love to start with - and about halfway through Tony spotted me and had a really confused look on his face! He then just pointed at me - I think he was so surprised to see someone from the UK !!
I've attached the set list - so you can see that Tony did a couple of songs on his own, followed by Martin and then Go West. Then Tony came back on stage to sing Somebody Told Me with Go West. They then did stuff on their own again, with Martin and Go West performing Uptight together. At one point Martin chucked his towel into the crowd - which I deftly caught!
The show finished with all of them back on stage for Suffragette City followed by an encore. It lasted about 1 hr 45 minutes and it was just non-stop laughs and entertainment. They all looked as thought they really enjoyed themselves, despite the almost unbearable heat! Tony was sweating loads.. but as usual, he just wouldn't take his jacket off!
Unfortunately I didn't get to see Tony afterwards - I think they may have all disappeared pretty quickly as he had said they were flying back to the UK at 9 o'clock the next morning - but it was a great evening and probably one of my most memorable "Tony" evenings!
