Friday We get a little break and go to the accommodation to unpack, I'll say unpack, but I lived out of my suitcase the whole weekend. Time for the gig and it was down to 'Reds' home of the gigs on Friday and Sunday. Go West were up first, so time to get down to selling raffle tickets, tombola and badges. Around 9.30 pm and time for Tony's gig to start, manage to get down to the front to get a good view and pictures for the site. I loved this set and thought it was the best one of the whole weekend. I'd heard the Feeder song 'Buck Rogers' at Skegness, when we could hear the soundcheck from outside, so was happy that this song was included. It was also the first time I had heard Tony sing Michael Buble's song 'Home' and Take That's 'Patience'. He should keep these in his set as his renditions are really good. To finish up was 'I Predict a Riot'. The time seems to go so quickly and then it is time for the 'Three Blind Mice' band to come on, back to the raffle tickets for me. |

Saturday Time for a quick spot of lunch and then to the Crazy Horse Saloon for the Quiz and signing session. I'm not sure what happened as at the end of the rounds the Hadley team (of Tony, John Keeble, Phil Taylor and Phil Williams) was winning by two points, but it went to a tie-break, which the Hadley team lost. The signing session went well and everyone who was there who wanted to meet Tony was able to. We were also able to sell more raffle tickets. A short break to get ready and off to Centre Stage to sell charity glow sticks (and a free raffle ticket to meet the bands). The joint gig for the night was being held there and the regular Butlins guests were allowed in. There was a lot of grumbling from the fans about this (they were upset that we had paid extra for the Fandango and yet the ordinary Butlins guests on a bargain break were seeing the guys). We weren't allowed to stand at the very front of the stage and Butlins in their wisdom decided that there should be a barrier (like you see in shops and banks) between us and the edge of the stage along with security guards blocking the view. It was an excellent joint gig and Martin Fry and Matt Backer joined Tony and Go West for the encore as they had finished their gig in 'Reds'. |

Sunday We sold some more raffle tickets at the Go West meet and greet and it was time for an early get ready and back to 'Reds' to sort out the raffle prizes ready for the big draw later. Tony was up first, the whole evening was running late as the Go West soundcheck had over run. Tony was on top form and it was nice that Andrea was given a solo slot and sang the Swing Out Sister song 'Break Out' excellently. She also came back with Tony to do their duet of 'Suspicious Minds'. One of my favourites 'Somebody Told Me' was also in the set. The raffle was drawn during the interval and Tina and I went up on stage for this. It was boiling hot up there, it is not surprising that Tony gets so hot. We also went up again after the Go West raffle to present the cheque for £2700 to be split between Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Princess Alice Hospice. Go West then did their set and the evening was completed with a storming but loud set from I Play Rock. |
