I'd decided fairly early on after the tour dates were announced that I would like to go to the last one of this current tour, unfortunately it was in Liverpool a 4 1/2 hour train journey for me and no direct flights so I would be going on the train, luckily with about a month to go I found out that I would be going to a regular meeting in Birmingham the day before, so a stay over in Birmingham was on the cards with the much shorter trip to Liverpool from there.
I slight tinge of sadness, that this was the final show of this tour came over me when I got to the Philharmonic Hall, a very different sort of theatre to the Gaiety Theatre in Douglas where I had been five days earlier. I found my seat but as we went in a friend had said that her hubby and her friend's hubby wouldn't be able to come and offered us better seats - thanks for that. I was second row near the middle aisle. Something told me to look at my camera and I looked inside to find that I had left the memory card back at the hotel, thank goodness for the internal memory, otherwise there would have been no photos from Liverpool.
I didn't get any set lists this time, I got pipped to the post for them, but I'm certain that it was the same as usual. Tony wasn't quite as chatty as he had been at the Isle of Man show, but he did get a few people shouting out including one lady who asked him to take his jacket off. I knew this would be a no goer as he has kept his jacket on for the whole show and encore for this whole tour. I liked his line that if he took the jacket off it would spoil the line and that it was a nice jacket with fancy buttons on the sleeves.
It was nice to meet up with both northern and southern friends as there was a fair sprinkling of both and had time to chat whilst Tony worked his way through the long queue waiting afterwards, but the stewards were a bit overzealous wanting to throw us out when Tony was still happy to talk to us. I wished him a very happy Christmas and good new year and it was time to go, we chatted a while longer outside but then it was time to go back to our hotel
There are a few dates in the calendar and hopefully it won't be long before I see Tony and his excellent singing again - I don't mind if it is a normal band show or more of this lovely big band show, which so suits his voice.
