Review of Tony Hadley vs Martin Fry and ABC -

This is the 4th time now that I have been to see Tony but the 1st when he has performed together with Martin Fry. I first found out about the gigs early last year ('04) and booked my tickets way back in October, so you could imagine how excited I was to finally see Tony sing live again!!
I decided to ask my mum to come along with me as none of my other 21 year old friends have the same appreciation of Tony that I do (ha ha!) but we had a fab night out all the same.
The show kicked off in spectacular form and we had very good seats in the second row. The Theatre was a great venue for the show and there were few seats left in the house. The show was split into 2 halves and the 2nd half was definitely the highlight when Martin wasn't looking as scared and when the audience finally got up to dance and sing along.
As ever, Tony was on top form, he gets better and better every time I see him.
My own personal highlights from him were; Train -'Drops of Jupiter', Hoobastank 'The Reason' , Elvis - 'You were always on my mind' and of course the fabulous 'Through the Barricades.' He's a true Star. All us Welshies really enjoyed 'Delilah' too cheers Tony!!
Another highlight was 'She's gone', I am now a converted Hall and Oates fan!!
Martin did not disappoint either but I could not help but feel a little sorry for him as he did look a little scared at first and he was probably thinking that 75% of the audience were there more to see Tony than him. I was expecting a lot more flamboyance from Mart after seeing him in various music videos beaming with arrogance and confidence. I was sorry to hear that his gold suit 'was at the dry cleaners'!! I think a few of his songs missed the mark slightly and whether Martin liked it or not most of his fans would rather watch him perform more of ABC's hits than some of the other songs he performed.
The lads that were playing the brass instruments and their dance routines brought a smile to my face!!
All in all, the Llandudno gig was FANTASTIC and would recommend that if you get the chance to see any of the shows DEFINITELY DO!
(And make sure you try to stay back and meet Tony, for some reason I decided not to but feel a bit disappointed now!)
