Review of Tony Hadley vs Martin Fry and ABC and Tony's booksigning - Reading - 24th March 2005 by Jane and Sue
My friend Sue and I decided to see our hero Tony at his latest booksigning for the paperback edition of his autobiography at Reading. Seeing as we made the effort to go we decided we must see Tony and Martin in concert that night. We had quite an eventful day, both of us not familiar with Reading. When we got there we parked in the centre and had about ten minutes to find WH Smiths which we found by chance. It was nice to see a few friendly faces when we arrived so we had a good chat and waited for Tony. It was great to see Tony he looked really fit and tanned. We waited for Tony to finish his signing so we could pounce. He was lovely, he asked me my name and I told him he should know me by now as we had both seen him over ten times last year, he apologised and said he was not too good with names. I took a photo of him and Sue but I found myself shaking and everyone thought this was funny which made me worse, but the photo turned out good. We asked WH Smiths if we could have a poster of Tony these were displayed around the shop. The assistant bought a big cardboard picture which we carried around Reading town it looked like a sandwich board advertising Tony's book. After a bit of shopping we ate in a chinese restaurant nobody else in there, should of warned us that the food wouldn't be great. After Sue splattered me with a McFlurry ice cream we decided to head for the theatre.A great show performance from Tony and Martin, not many got up at the beginning feeling a bit awkward although towards the end everyone was up dancing. At end of the show we waited outside for Tony and Martin, we were both happy Tony had remembered our names from the booksigning ten hours earlier (what a great memory) he said he would remember us if we were always together, although we had a bit of a disagreement over a photo and wandered off not sure if we would be together next time we saw him. It soon blew over and friends again wandered off to the car park expecting a car parking bill to resemble our monthly mortgage payments only to be told by a friendly policemen that the barrier would be open so we didn't have to pay a thing.
All in all we had a great and eventful day.
