Having never listened to Rowland Rivron's show on Radio 2, I really didn't know what this was all about - but it was absolutely hilarious! It was recorded in the brand new Music Theatre which had only opened the week before and we managed to get into the second row of seats - sadly not on Tony's side though!
Basically the show consisted of Roland and his band playing songs and cracking jokes with and about Tony and Tim Vine, who was the other guest on the show.
Tony sang I Predict a Riot to start with - and then he told the story of how he first sung in public at Pontin's and gave a rendition of Lady Madonna. We also got a bit of Delilah - then he did a medley of True, Musclebound and Gold. He then had to repeat this in a true Cockney accent which was hysterical!
He closed the show with another track but I can't remember for the life of me what it was!
Alison was in the audience and Tony made reference to his "beautiful baby daughter" at one point which was really sweet!
When I spoke to Tony afterwards, he said his face was aching from laughing so much! I think it will be aired sometime in September, so keep an eye on the Radio 2 listings!
