High
Wycombe was fairly high on my list of shows to go to, so I was on a mission to
get some good seats, many phone calls later and I got front row, just left of
centre.
I decided to drive to High Wycombe and meet my friend at her house and then drive onwards to the show. I don't drink and drive so it meant I was to be sober all evening, but this wasn't going to stop me enjoying it.
We arrived in High Wycombe around 6 pm, no hitches on the way and found the car park immediately. We decided to go for a drink and had a look around the town for a pub. We got ourselves some drinks and started to talk about the forthcoming show. We were slightly hidden by a large pillar. The next thing we notice is Tony, Phil T, Dave and Paul at the bar having a drink because some people we had met in the car park were having a photo taken with Tony. We went over and talked to Tony. This was the first time I had managed to see Tony in a pub before the show, having narrowly missed him at Burgess Hill earlier in the year.
We finished our drinks and made our way to the theatre and met up with other friends we had tickets for and made our way to the front row, expectantly waiting for my 4th helping of the this excellent show. There had been no changes to the songs or the order (although they still haven't adjusted the set lists as 'Gold' comes in after 'That's Life'). I just love these songs and the way Tony delivers them, but the first half goes way too quickly and it is time for the interval, so we leave the auditorium and go out into the foyer, where my friend spots Peter Cox and we go over to say hello.
Time for the second half and we go back to our seats. We were approached by one of the theatre staff to tell us that there had been complaints about the number of camera flashes and that we were not allowed to take any more photos. We queried this with Dave, Tony's tour manager later as there is a request for photos on the official site and he said that neither he nor Tony minded photos being taken, but that it was a theatre thing.
We didn't stand up in the second half as we were concerned that the camera police would turn into the sit down police, but at the end of the show we stood to give Tony a huge round of applause and we continued to stand for the encore. The time had gone really quickly and it was time to collect set lists from Jay (thanks Jay!) and go out into the foyer and wait for the signing queue to disappear. We also talked to Els and Miriam from the fan club. Along with Els and Miriam we were the last to leave the theatre. All in all an excellent evening.
