Already being in Manchester the day before, it was trip down the motorway with my friend and onto the next show. I know Birmingham quite well as I have to go meetings there regularly, but the last time I had gone past the Town Hall it was under refurbishment and covered in scaffolding and a tarpaulin which had been printed with a photograph of the Town Hall. I'm not sure when the Town Hall re-opened, but they have made a good job of making an old building, new and modern inside, yet still keeping the integrity of an old building.
The evening started with Kelbie again and we decided to watch them and give them another go.
There hadn't been the usual announcement of no photography (not that it usually stops me!) but after taking a couple of photos, the elderly usherette asked me not to take too many with the flash, so some are taken without and aren't so good, luckily for me, she was alternating with another usher and he hadn't told me that I couldn't take photos! We were up in the front row of the balcony due to a mix up with the tickets. It was good to see the show from a different perspective and take in the whole of the stage, which you don't necessarily see from down at the front, but having quite a good zoom on my camera helps me to get the photos.
It was time for Tony. The set followed the same list of songs as the previous night. Tony was a little bit more chatty on stage than in Manchester and explained that he had created the Queen megamix from what Queen had played at Live Aid in 1985, but with the addition of 'Somebody to Love.
Tony was also talking about how he has been watching 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' and that he had seen David Van Day on it and that he knew David from the Reborn in the USA programme. He also mentioned that he is always being asked to go on this sort of show along with the ice skating and dancing shows but that he always turns them down.
Too soon it was over and after a chat to friends inside the venue, it was time to go to the stage door. It wasn't quite so cold in Birmingham and Tony was out sooner. I didn't have to watch out for Tony's toes in Birmingham as he didn't have his flip flops on, but his shoes.
I didn't get a set list, but apparently it said 'Time in a bottle' on this one.
Roll on Shepherds Bush - Its a standing show and I like being able to dance along to the songs.
