This
was my second show of the tour, front row tickets (left) this time.
Arrived in Weston-Super-Mare a bit early and decided to check out where the
stage door was. Just as we were about to leave the road at the back of the
theatre, Tony, John and Ritchie B came sprinting up the road. It was part
way through the first show, I could hear Martin Fry on stage. Tony had
been to the pub at the back of the theatre. He said 'Can't stop - I'm due
back on stage'. It had been a surprise to see Tony.
The stage was quite high up and the equipment was placed at the back of the stage. There seemed to be a trapdoor on the front part, so I wouldn't have wanted Tony to fall down it.
Tony was on top form, but Martin Fry seemed to have a cold, but it didn't stop him singing. The set list (shown right) was shorter than at Oxford, they didn't sing Uptight Outasite, Drops of Jupiter, Love or The Reason. I don't know whether this was because there were two shows on the night or if the songs have been dropped altogether. I'm going to other two show venues and others where there is just one show, so I'll keep you posted on that one.
Too soon the show had ended and time to head round to the stage door and chat with other people waiting. Martin Fry came out first, then Tony. He was wearing a baseball cap, but looking lovely as ever! He chatted and signed for the 30 or so people waiting. Someone asked him what his plans for the future were. He said that there would not be a Spandau Ballet reunion and that too many hurtful things had been said.
