When I heard
when Tony's book would be out and that he would be doing a book signing tour, I hoped that he
would come to a bookshop close to me. This was not to be and the furthest
South West he was coming was Yeovil - oh well 55 miles to travel to a market town in
Somerset on 7th May. I had never been to Yeovil before, so a couple of
weeks before the signing I took a trip to Yeovil to find out where I could park
and where the bookshop was. It was on this trip that I spotted A1 size
advertising posters inside and outside the shop and thought - 'I want one of
those'.
Meanwhile, via Tony's official site and this one, Sharon contacted me, she lives in the same place I do. We met up and decided to go to the booksigning together.
It was great to meet up with a likeminded Tony fan. We were both eager to get our hands on the book. We arrived in Yeovil a little early, had a bite to eat and headed off to the bookshop.
Tony had not arrived yet, but the queue was already out the door and up the road. We ended up queuing up behind a very strange old woman who didn't seem to know what Tony had been doing recently - but hey she was buying his book. Behind us was a girl who had been sent by her Mum. The local radio station Orchard FM had turned up and were trying to give out car stickers for their radio station. They also had with them some SB album covers, we set them right that Tony wouldn't sign them. Tina who I have spoken to in Tony's chatroom introduced herself.
When we got near the front of the queue, there were two
Ottakars staff marshalling the queue. Sharon asked if we could both have
the advertising posters and a promotional poster each. The nice Ottakars
man agreed and asked us to come back at 2 pm.
While we were waiting in the queue, Tony looked up and said Hi to me. The old woman got to the front of the queue and Tony was really nice to her, he must have thought she was completely nutty. At last Sharon and I got to the front of the queue and she had her book signed first, then I had mine signed. We took some photos. I have actually now got one of me and Tony that is ok of me (the one at the top of the page). Chatted to Tony. I almost tipped his drink over - oops. Tony looked better than he has recently and better than he does on the bookcover.
We had a wander around Yeovil for a bit and then at 1.45 pm we got back to the bookshop. The queue had died down and the bookshop man got us the posters and we joined the queue again. Tony signed Sharon's advertising poster, I had my promotional poster signed. Tony said 'its Julie isn't it', no I said 'Denise'. Then we had a joke about him being rubbish with names.
I left Yeovil a very happy person, having met Tony again and for him to remember me. When I got home my hubby said 'What on earth do you want those posters for, I hope you don't want to put them on the bedroom wall!'
